With its support for innovation and technology, Caja Madrid has created an Island in Second Life through which it will provide information on one of its most emblematic social and cultural centres, La Casa Encendida, belonging to the Caja Madrid Community Projects department. The aim is for its cultural, social, environmental and educational activities to reach a wider public. This new communications channel permits greater interaction and establishes a closer bond with its users.

At La Casa Encendida, among other activities, visitors can take a virtual tour of the building situated in the Madrid district of Lavapiés, sit in any of its four concert and theatre auditoriums, take part in courses and workshops, relax in the various gardens in the island (Oriental, Renaissance, Arabic), to read the micropoetry of the Madrid poet Ajo, recycle at a recycling point, get lost in the maze and stroll along the beach.
